Spring is just around the corner, which means it’s out with the old and in with the new. When you do your spring cleaning this year, don’t forget these important places. They may be the most nightmarish places in the house, but once they are cleared out, you will have space that you’ve forgotten you had!
Closets are easy to just throw things into when you don’t know where else to put them. You probably have things in there that you’ve forgotten about. Donate or sell the clutter and any old clothes or shoes that you haven’t worn in years to make room for your current or future clothes. If you find that you have more space than clothes, you could use the extra space to put accessories on display.
Did your two-car garage turn into a one-car garage over the years? Organize that space to make room for both cars again.
After medicine expires, it is less effective. Get rid of that expired medicine so that you can find what you need, as well as add a little daily inspiration.
Junk drawers are another easy way to hide things that don’t have a real place. Toss anything that doesn’t have sentimental value, and with the things that do, try displaying them in a shadow box or keeping them in a decorative container. That will open up an entire drawer for things that are useful to you.
Basement and Attic
These rooms may be the most intimidating as they allow for large items that stay out of site. However, this can also be a great opportunity to make some good money on those items that you no longer use, or to re-purpose them into something that you want to have on display. Although these may be the most intimidating, they can have by far the most storage space for more important items.
Happy spring cleaning and good luck!
